Skellig

I read this book quite some time ago, I must admit the cover was not very appealing. I could not remember much and then I found the show online, and "is this what I think it is?"

It was. ^_^

By most people's standards it was not a very exciting movie (it was not supposed to be, the book was not) and it was rather slow-paced, but I loved it--absolutely loved it. Whomever acted as 'Skellig' did an excellent job. I also enjoyed how there was 'the real world' and then, there was Skellig. Not this huge 'otherworld' and then 'the real world,' they were not completely separate at all, yet separate and I think it worked seamlessly.

It was the same when I read the book--I did not think, at first, it was any good at all and could not understand what the point was or who the man was and then, of course, I finally understood. And still even after discovering what he was/what he was like, there was an element of mystery to it because although you found out part of who he was, nobody actually knew 'the rest of it.'
I wonder if there is/will ever be a sequel to that book? I should like to find out what happened to him.

  1. On Amazon's page for the book, Skellig appears to have several different covers. One is just a white feather on a blue background-- that struck me as very forgettable. The other seemed somewhat more effective-- a dark but kid-friendly cartoon of a kid looking at a scary man sitting by a window.
